New Heels

Taking photos for outfit posts at this time of year requires a fair amount of organisational skill (which I unfortunately don't have!) so my next outfit will hopefully be up in the next couple of days instead of today. In the meantime, here are a few photos of a pair of shoes I bought the other day. I got them from the charity shop for about £10 and although I don't really need them, I thought they'd last a long time and I couldn't resist the pretty bow on the top!

What do you think? What have you bought recently?

Just a quick photo of my outfit. The top and skirt were both from ebay and can be seen in detail here.

P.S. I've added some new items to my shop

5 outfits for Winter

I decided to create some Autumn/Winter themed outfits for you. Most of the outfits are from Motel (...literally drooling over some of the items they have at the moment!) with a few Topshop things thrown in.

outfit 1
I've really been liking velvet in unusual colours recently and paired with a black leather skirt it can create a really edgy look. I'd never be brave enough to wear this fur jacket myself but if I was styling someone else, I'd definitely pick this out.
outfit 2

PVC and metallic items are much more risky but I definitely think if styled in the right way it can look really stylish and not tacky (I love these images).
outfit 3

I love this dress so much and it's simplistic style is just perfect. I'd love to style it with something that contrasts this such as this printed bomber jacket and then finished off with this bag and gold chain necklace.
outfit 4
I really like the subtle tartan items that are around at the moment, such as this skirt. It would go perfectly with this long sleeve crop top and the Topshop boots (which I love so so much!).
outfit 5
I couldn't really do a autumn/winter themed post without a tartan dress could I!?. I still don't actually own anything tartan so I always feel a surge of jealousy whenever I see someone else wearing it! I really want to buy a hat at some point (fingers crossed I'll actually find one that suits me!)

Which is your favourite? What have you bought this winter?

P.S. I'm going to be adding some more items in my shop this week so keep checking!

Purple Velvet

I decided to make the most of the daylight to take some more outfit photos. I obviously had to do a velvet themed post this winter (it's almost compulsory if you're a fashion blogger) and I'm very happy to show this top as it's such a lovely colour and style. It used to be my mum's but I cropped it and I'm wearing it the other way around as I wasn't a fan of the neckline.  You've seen my bargain skirt before here and of course my favourite pair of heels. I'm so glad I managed to pick them up last year for only £8 in the sale! I've seen quite a few variations in magazines and in the shops at the moment such as this Topshop pair so my impulse buy wasn't so bad after all. The necklace was a present. I don't actually own many necklaces (it's not really something I buy) so most of my jewellery seems to be a gift. The knit jacket is something I'm selling in my shop. It really is the comfiest item of clothing exaggeration.

Winter Blues

The only thing that's been going through my head the last couple of weeks is my portfolio for art foundation and my textiles final piece. I'm so excited to start making my final dress and show it to all of you (in hopefully a fantasy themed photoshoot) at the end of December. It's quite hard to believe that all of this work for the past 6 months or so has been leading up to just 12 hours of actual making work, but I hope it paid off! As for the portfolio, I've got to start putting all of my best work together for my application as soon as possible so I've been racking my brains for original ideas. What have you all been doing recently?

Normally I don't show outfit posts that I've actually been wearing the day I post them but I genuinely did wear this today! The dress is from Topshop which I bought years ago. It's a great simple piece to layer with though the colour can be a bit tricky. I made the jumper last year and I showed it in this post when it snowed (Have you heard the rumours about the snow that's coming to the UK?). I find it quite stressful wearing tights and having to match the right pair to an outfit (other people must surely feel the same?) and I've ended up becoming a bit boring and have been lacking courage to go for anything over than a simple black/grey pair. I'm sure you are all fed up of seeing my studded boots by now...I've already started thinking about shoes for Spring though! I definitely feel like my styling has been pretty bad recently and I'm not very happy with my outfit posts (and as I'm trying to save my money for Christmas time I've not had the chance to buy anything new) so I'm hoping my current wardrobe boredom will cure itself soon and that I don't bore all of you in the meantime!

Topshop Xmas Wish List

I wanted to create my own version of the blogger Christmas wish list (only 5 weeks left!). I decided to keep mine to just Topshop as there are so many nice things in the shops at the moment that it would be so hard to narrow down (I had difficulty narrowing down only these items!).

What do you want this Christmas? Which are your favourite pieces here?

This was my outfit from a party on saturday. It was 1920's Gatsby themed! My dress isn't completely in theme but it's gold and has a big bow (plus it was £6) so I thought why not!. The photos were taken at my friend's house so they don't have the usual background and unfortunately some of them are a bit blurry (I really should have taken some more of the back and the lovely bow). In total my outfit cost £10 (my dress is from ebay and so are my shoes).

How is your week going? What do you think of my outfit?

1 year of blogging

It's my 1 year blog birthday! I really can't believe I've actually kept this blog up for so long. I was sorting through all of the blogs I was following the other day (there were a lot) and found that more than half of them were no longer running, so it makes me feel quite proud to have lasted this long. The weird thing is that I can't even remember why I started in the first place and I definitely never realised that blogging would become so addictive! It's also really nice knowing that so many people are interested in what I post and take the time to write such lovely comments. I decided to do a typical 1 year post with my best outfits from the last 12 months. It's more of a reference for me and a chance to reminisce over my blogging experience but let me know which were your favourite outfits...

These photos didn't come out the best unfortunately due to the bad lighting. It's annoying how early it's getting dark at the moment. I really have to rush to take photos as soon as I get back from sixth form, though I guess I could try and organise myself a bit better with weekend photos (which reminds me, I'll have a gatsby-ish outfit coming up soon). Anyway, the shirt is something which I have shown here already. It's a great piece to mix and match with but is obviously a lot more appropriate for the warmer months. I've been making a fair amount of use out of my Topshop skirt (I saw it in the sale though for something like £10 the other day - a lot cheaper than what I paid). The cardigan is something I found on ebay over a year ago (around the £3/£4 mark). It's a lot more worn out now unfortunately and the sleeves are covered in oil paint but it's still useful to cover up and keep warm.

How was your weekend? What have you been wearing in Autumn?

More textiles work...

This is another piece that I have been working on in my textiles project. This like the previous is supposed to be a large sample working on developing techniques I have used in my sketchbook. I decided to separate it up into panels and create a skirt. Again, it can be unfinished and doesn't have to be neat and the focus is more on the actual samples. I prefer the corset piece I made as the samples were more refined (a word that my teachers have engraved in my mind...we're constantly told to refine things) and I put more time and effort into making it but as promised here is my second piece.

I used a mola technique for the green holly shapes and appliqued on the black pieces. I also printed on circles to the surface.
