Primark Skirt

I have quite a simple outfit for you today. I actually bought this skirt from Primark about a year ago but somehow I've only just got around to adjusting it to the right size. The top was from a car boot sale for only £1 which I decided to crop so that I have a basic crop top I can wear during the summer. I paired this with my statement necklace (£2) and my favourite Topshop boots.

Tumblr Favourites

I feel like I've been neglecting my blog recently even though I now have far more free time?!. Small amounts of revision plus failed attempts to make clothes is partially what I have been doing instead, though I did manage to finish my leavers party dress the other day so my start to study leave hasn't been completely unproductive. As it's raining I didn't have the chance to take photos so I've just picked out some of my recent tumblr favourites...

Textiles A2 Final Exam

So as I'm not going to get my final piece back until Autumn, I won't be able to take proper, good quality photos of this dress for a while, so unfortunately I'm left with these phone photos. My whole theme was Growth and Evolution so I decided to focus in on the idea of biology/microbiology. For the top half I took my inspiration from Karen Margolis' work (my response to this is here) which involved stitching and cutting out circles (definitely the dullest part of the construction). For the skirt my shape was inspired by Yiqing Yin and some of my sample work. As for the back, I wanted to include a pleated section taking ideas from Yiqing Yin again. The photo of the back is awful and it is not actually wonky/at an angle in real life. We had 12 hours to make the whole thing which is actually quite a considerable amount of time but I still found myself rushing at the end! Let me know what you think of it...

Yesterday was my last day of my life....ever! I don't think it's really sunk in yet and it probably won't until I head off to UCA in September. In the meantime, I've only got 2 exams at the end of June now (as I've finished off my art and textiles already) so I'm planning on making loads of clothes whether it's for my shop or just to practise some new techniques in the 4 months of summer I now have. To start with I decided to make this skirt. I didn't have enough fabric to pleat it fully all around so all the volume is at the front (something I would have changed) but I think the overall effect is quite nice. I paired it with my white shirt and my Office heels.

Shoes wishlist

I finished my textiles A level course on friday (I may or may not show you my final piece soon depending on whether I have the chance to take some photos) and I'm now in my last week of school/sixth form ever! As I've been pretty busy, I haven't taken any outfit photos but I thought I'd show you some of my favourite shoes in the shops at the moment...

I feel so guilty if I don't blog even just for a week so I dragged myself away from the tv my work to take these photos. As I have more coursework deadlines coming up in the next week, I haven't really had much time for thinking about clothes/getting inspiration for outfits but I did spot this skirt in my wardrobe which I'm pretty sure I still haven't shown you? I found it in the charity shop (originally from H&M) for about £4/5. As usual I had to make a couple of adjustments to the style/fit. I also found this lovely top which I should be putting up in my shop this evening. My necklace is another new addition which I was kindly given and is originally from Topshop.

*The photos didn't turn out quite how I had hoped and the top is actually a lot more yellow in real life but hopefully you can still see how nice it is!
