Leavers Party Part 1

I went to my leavers prom last night (a slightly eventful but fun evening) which gave me the chance to wear one of my homemade dresses. I also made my friend, Katie, her dress as a surprise for her 18th birthday this April. I've been really excited to show the dress on my blog as it's definitely one of my favourite things I've ever made and luckily I managed to take a few photos before we went out for the evening...

There was no way I could go through this summer without making my own co-ord set. This fabric is absolutely lovely and made better by the fact that it stretches one way meaning I didn't need to include a zip on the top. I wanted to tone the skirt down a bit which is why I added the pale pink panels on the sides and also around the neckline.  It turned out really well overall and I can tell I'll definitely wear it lots over the next few months. I also bought this hat recently from New Look for £10.

My exams are finally over...forever! And hopefully that means I'll have more time to focus on blogging and reading everyone's lovely blogs!
First of all though, like many bloggers I am completely obsessed with Pretty Little Thing at the moment, especially the new items from the paradox collection. I've picked out some of my favourites below...

1st row (1,2,3,4), 2nd row (1,2,3,4), 3rd row (1,2,3)

I've wanted a kimono for a while now and I finally got around to making one the other day. I only hemmed the neckline and sides really simply though rather than having a full collar as I wasn't prepared to take the risk with this fabric ('s incredibly difficult to work with). It took around an hour to make including cutting out my pattern pieces so it's something I might try again with a different fabric. Also in this outfit are my new jelly shoes. I actually bought them in March (from ebay for £8) but decided to wait until summer to put them in a post. They're so much more comfortable than I would have imagined and although I prefer the versions with a bigger heel, these will be more useful for taking on holiday. In an ideal world I would have paired the kimono and shoes with a printed swing dress or playsuit but alas I will have to deal with this top and skirt (posted previously here and here).

Three Floor

I'm starting to feel quite summery now what with the (occasional) sunny weather and the end of my exams in sight. In keeping with this theme, I've made a few things to wear when I go on holiday to Hawaii in July plus I really can't wait to show you the dress that I made for myself (+ one I made my friend) for my leavers party at the end of this month. In the meantime, I found this really amazing brand that I absolutely love. The dresses are exactly the kind of thing I would love to be able to make one day - a mix of unique but wearable. It's quite an expensive brand but completely understandable when you see how much detail every piece has. Let me know what you think...

This dress is something that I have been working on recently. I'd never made anything in this style before so it was a bit of a challenge but overall I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. I used two different fabrics (the black leather-look one for the waist band and as piping between the panels, and the floral one) plus an extra for the lining. I'm also wearing my new Office heels in these photos which I can't wait to actually wear out to my leavers party at the end of this month.
Let me know what you think of the dress...
