It's raining outside but I'm not ready for Autumn yet and there definitely haven't been enough sunny days this summer.....However I still wanted to show some of my summer purchases. Firstly I am obsessed with Depop. There's so many great things on sale there and for really low prices. I bought these shorts on there (originally from Topshop, about £10) and this kimono (from New Look) which is so perfect for just throwing over things rather than wearing a jacket. I also love this 90s top which was originally longer but I decided to crop and these new sandals that I bought from Office since my old ones were falling apart!

Mesh Crop

My favourite fabric shop is closing down soon, which is obviously devastating but it also means that all of their fabrics are on sale! I found this really nice summery print which I knew instantly I wanted to make into a pleated skirt. I think generally it works quite well, especially matched with this crop top - something I found in the H&M sale for just £5. It's made of a white/transparent mesh stripey fabric and these photos really don't do it justice and it's lovely in real life.

It's been a whole month since I last posted and I really have no excuse apart from the fact that I've either been busy or just haven't really felt like taking outfit photos. After posting regularly for 2 and a half years, I think taking a month off blogging was needed! Although I very very rarely look at blogs anymore, (and I'm sure hardly anyone actually looks at my blog...) I'd still like to keep this up for as long as possible because it's something that I've absolutely loved doing the past couple of years and I still get excited at the prospect of blogging about all the new clothes that I buy/make!

Because I've been away from the blogging world and haven't posted any new purchases, I've got rather a large amount of clothes to post about including my favourite of them all, this Topshop dress. I'm loving the sales at the moment and I've found some really great things such as this dress which was only £16 (not bad for Topshop I thought). I absolutely love this style and I've always wanted a lace dress to add to my collection so it was perfect.
My shoes weren't in the sale but they were about £23/4/5 in New Look. They have a slight heel on them though which is why I was slightly hesitant to buy them (and I've only worn them at night so far) but hopefully I'll get a lot of use out of them over the summer and into autumn.

I'm off on holiday on Thursday to France so I've been buying quite a few new summery clothes that I'll be sure to blog about when I get back, meanwhile I've also been making quite a few new things including this skirt....How perfect is this fabric!? My mum found it in Southall for only £3! I decided on just making a basic 'night out' skirt or something that I could wear on holiday. It only took me an hour or so as the only work that was really involved was sewing up the darts and then adding a waistband and zip. I accidentally made it slightly too tight which is a bit annoying but it's still wearable and I still really like how it looks! I would have preferably worn it with my off the shoulder top but I couldn't find it anywhere in my room (I really need a tidy up...!) so I had to go for this Primark crop instead.

90s lace

I really shouldn't have taken these photos in the evening because the lighting is awful and the colours look really washed out (in real life, this fabric is actually a yellow/orange-y colour...a bit clearer in the last photo). I actually made this dress myself after seeing and loving this kind of style of dress in the shops. Normally, I'd use 2 seperate pattern pieces for the top and the skirt but I decided upon using only 1 which I think works much better for this shape. I absolutely love the lace which was about £6 per metre, so quite a lot cheaper than it would have been to buy a dress in the shops. I'm wearing it with my Office heels, which I can't believe I've already owned for 3 years now!

Paisley Crop

Anyone who's been following my blog for a long time may recognise this paisley print since it's actually from this dress I bought from River Island two years ago now! Unfortunately it shrunk in the wash (which was devastating as I really loved it) but I decided to make the most of it so I just cut off the bottom and I now wear it as a crop top. I'm wearing it with my New Look faux leather skirt which I'm actually getting a lot of use out of now that I've finally adjusted the size!

Leaf print

Because the weather's been so nice recently I've been on the hunt for some clothes to add to my summer wardrobe, and meanwhile managed to find this lovely dress for the bargain of just £10. It's originally from Topshop but I bought it second hand on depop (my new favourite ebay alternative, definitely worth checking out for some really good deals!). I loved the print and the colours so much that I couldn't resist buying it and it's actually really versatile as it can be dressed up for a night out or worn more casually during the day. I really need to find myself some summer shoes though as I'm stuck in black tights and boots at the moment.

Cut out shoulders

I finally got around to taking some photos (even if they're not that great...!). I made this dress last week out of this amazing printed fabric. I decided to try out a style different to what I usually make so I kept the shape quite relaxed (though I would probably wear it normally with a belt) and then made cut out shoulders (which went surprisingly well considering I'd never experimented with that before). I'm wearing it with my £6 Missguided heels (still can't get over what a good deal they were!).

Final Major Project - Art Foundation

I really have been an awful blogger recently but I have an excuse - my FMP deadline last Monday. I am now officially on my 5 month summer holiday until I head off to Nottingham Trent in September! Hopefully this means I'll have loads more time to actually blog and make more of my own clothes (which it feels like I haven't done in ages!).
Anyway, so the reason for my lack of time is below. The theme for this project was Fragility, so I basically looked into fragile materials and fabrics, as well as into the 'fragile mind'. I ended up focusing a lot on skin and bruises in my research (I know, it's quite disgusting...!) and is mainly the idea behind my final piece. I wouldn't say I'm particularly pleased with my outcome (mainly due to my laziness and the fact I know I could have done sooo much better) but it still fits my concept and works well with the rest of my sketchbook work.
